Luke Duffy

Making the decision to pursue a career in health was an easy one for Mount Isa-born Townsville resident Luke Duffy.

"I've always been interested in health," he said.

"I was really inspired by my grandmother, and working in this area helps me to help my Indigenous community."

Luke currently works as an Indigenous Health Worker for Queensland Health after completing a Certificate III and Diploma in Primary Health Care.

Part of his role with Queensland Health is to facilitate Mental Health First Aid Training.

Through his work Luke is also busy in his local area supporting local community organisations in providing cultural support to post-release prisoners and their family members.

"It's difficult for them to transition back in the community," he said.

"So I provide assistance with delivering and gathering cultural information to assist in case management."

In the future, Luke is looking forward to doing more university study to move into other areas of healthcare.
