Brenda van Gosliga

Brenda Van Gosliga is a Kamilaroi woman who lives in Dirranbandi.

Brenda was born and bred in Dirranbandi and still resides in the community with her husband and children. Her father was Colin Felix Houlahan, an Aboriginal man from Goodooga New South Wales and her mother Rhonda Mason is a local non-Indigenous woman from Dirranbandi.

Brenda attended school in Dirranbandi with many of the Aboriginal people describing them as a close, small family. Brenda has formed many close relationships with community members and knows every Aboriginal family in Dirranbandi. She enjoys singing with the Weatherall Boys Band 'Nothing but Deadly' when they play in the community.

Brenda and her husband have owned a business in Dirranbandi for six years. She has also been involved in community organisations such as the Woodstock Indigenous Corporation. As a member of the Dirranbandi Sport and Recreation Action Group, Brenda has worked closely with Balonne Shire Council and the Dirranbandi community towards the development of a skate park.

Brenda volunteers to represent the Dirranbandi Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community as a co-chairperson for the Dirranbandi Negotiation Table.
