Irene Robinson

I grew up most of my life on Thursday Island and have had to find my own inner strength from a very young age.

Life for me was not easy, and, I have had a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs.

I demonstrated a passion for fashion and the arts from a young age, and have been fortunate enough to cross into a number of diverse industry's and vocations.

I believe in the strength of Indigenous Australian people, and am very proud to say I am one. I strongly believe in, and advocate for my people.

My passion is in guiding the next generations to come, and I know I am helping to make positive differences for the betterment of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Focusing on who I am, what my goals were, and most importantly, showing my children, that challenges in life are insignificant in comparison to how you overcome them, and move forward.

I have had the opportunity to pass my strength, knowledge, skills, confidence, and inspiration to my people, and our future generations, and this is my chosen journey in life, of which I am looking forward to continuing, well into the future.

This year I have set a huge goal, and am very excited about the steps I am taking towards achieving this goal - developing an innovative business enterprise in conjunction with a number of likeminded, strong, genuine, and inspirational people.

My advice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, especially the next generation: Never let anything or anyone stand in your way. You can do anything.
