Malcolm Mann

My name is Malcolm Mann. I am a Dharumbal man with connection to South Sea Islands and live in Rockhampton.

My family, culture, living on the land and being around water are all a big part of my life. I am passionate about looking after our sea country, and with the support and encouragement of my family, I have been able to pursue a career that is close to my heart.

After working in jobs as a station-hand, abattoir worker and a ranger, I overcame many challenges and went on to complete my university degree in Environmental Science. I now work as a Project Manager with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.

I want to continue to look after our sea country, while bringing together traditional knowledge and non-Indigenous management practices, so that we can teach and appreciate the sea country and look after it for our future generations.

DESCRIPTION: My deadly story is about connection to sea
