Jamie Lovell

My name is Jamie Lovell. I am a Waka Waka and Gubbi Gubbi woman and I live in Maryborough. My family, culture and land are a big part of my life.

My parents have always encouraged me to follow my passion. Since realising my true calling was to be a ranger, I have relished every opportunity to gain experience in this field. I have been part of the Green Army, a member of the local community justice group and I am now a member of a team helping to develop infrastructure for the Fraser Coast Wildlife Sanctuary.

I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to speak about sustaining strong connection to land and culture at a symposium in Vail, Colorado. It is an honour to be part of an international discussion about the very issues I am passionate about.

I want to show young people there is no shame in being proud. Just get out there -we're deadly in everything we do!
