Each year, NAIDOC Week celebrations highlight the rich and diverse cultures of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the First Australians. NAIDOC Week celebrations and community events are a great opportunity for all Queenslanders to come together and acknowledge the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.

NAIDOC Week 2019

This year NAIDOC Week celebrations were held from Sunday 7 July to Sunday 14 July 2019. DATSIP supported more than 40 events and activities across the state.

For generations, Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples have sought recognition of their unique place in Australian history and society today and to be the architects of their lives and futures. This year's NAIDOC Week theme ‘Voice, Treaty, Truth – Let’s work together for a shared future’ reflected three key elements to the reforms set out in the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
